Allen Forest Zoo, also known as Kanpur Zoological Park, is a major zoological park located in Kanpur, Uttar Pradesh, India. Spread across a natural forest area, it is one of North India’s largest and oldest zoos, notable for its lush landscape and diverse wildlife collection.

The zoo occupies a section of the historic Allen Forest, originally envisioned by British botanist George Burnett Allen in the early 20th century. It officially opened to the public in 1971 and was designed to maintain a natural forest environment rather than artificial cages. The park features a large lake, open enclosures, and abundant vegetation, providing a semi-natural habitat for its animals.

Allen Forest Zoo houses a wide range of species including big cats such as lions, tigers, and leopards, as well as elephants, deer, bears, reptiles, and numerous bird species. The enclosures are designed to resemble natural habitats, aligning with modern zoological practices of animal welfare and conservation education.
